FINANCE DIRECTOR

City of McAlester, Oklahoma

Salary:  Negotiable Depending on Qualifications and Experience

 

 

The City of McAlester, Oklahoma (pop. 18,090), a full service city in Southeast Oklahoma, is seeking a Finance Director.  The Director reports to the City Manager and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the accounting, audit, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, revenue and expenditure recordation, budget control, cash management, fixed assets, grant accounting, sales tax and use collection, utility billing functions and other financial activities of the City and other legal entities controlled by the City; coordinating all purchases of materials, supplies and services for the City; coordinating information technology services and assisting the City Manager’s Office with preparation of the annual budget and capital improvement plan. 

 

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible financial management experience, including three years supervisory experience is required. Municipal experience is strongly preferred.  A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration or a closely related field is required.  Advanced degree or Certified Public Accountant license is preferred.  Experience with financial software systems in accounting, utility billing, and payroll desired.
