Swimming Pools
City Pools

The City of McAlester operates two public swimming pools and three wading pools throughout the city.


    Jeff Lee Swimming Pool, Third Street and Fillmore Avenue  Open 1 p.m.-7 p.m. (Closed on Mondays)
    Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.  Concession available.

    J.I. Stipe Center Swimming Pool,  J.I. Stipe Recreation Center, Eighth Street and Jackson Avenue.  Open 1 p.m.-6 p.m. (Closed on Mondays)


    Chadick Park Wading Pool and Splash Pad, Chadick Avenue and Third Street.  Open Monday thru Friday, 10am to 4pm.
    Komar Park Wading Pool, B Street and Comanche Avenue. Open Monday thru Saturday, 10am to 7pm.
    Hutchinson Park Wading Pool, Fourth Street and Krebs Avenue. Open Monday thru Friday, 10am to 4pm.
    No children over the age of 12 are allowed in wading pools.

Each site is staffed by city workers; two attendants staff each wading pool, and certified lifeguards are on duty at each swimming pool.  The city employs certified lifeguards and wading pool attendants.


    Admission to swimming pools is $1 for children and $2 for adults.
    There is no cost to use wading pools or the splash pad at Chadick Park.


    The swimming pools are open to the public seven days a week beginning at 1 p.m.  The J.I. Stipe Center Swimming 
    Pool is open until 6 p.m. and the Jeff Lee Swimming Pool is open until 7 p.m.

    The pools are open each summer, usually from Memorial Day weekend to early August.

Other Services:

    Swimming pools are available for rent  for pool parties after closing to the public each evening.  The cost is $90 for 2 hours at the J.I. Stipe center Swimming Pool, and $100 for 2 hours at the Jeff Lee Swimming Pool. 

Swimming lessons are also offered by the city at the Jeff Lee Swimming Pool.  Lessons are taught by certified instructors and cost $45 for each two-week session.  Classes are offered for all ages and abilities, from Parent/infant to Pre-lifeguard.  Classes are held in the mornings and evenings.
