MEETING DATE: The Board of Adjustment meets monthly on the fourth Monday at 4:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, Municipal Building, and at such other time as the Board may determine. POWERS: (1) To hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the city manager in the enforcement of this article. (2) To hear and decide special exceptions to the terms of this article upon which such board of adjustment under such regulations may be required to pass. (3) To hear and decide specific variances. "EXTRACT FROM THE ZONING ORDINANCE, ORDINANCE NO. 970: Article VI, Section 2. Membership: "The Board of Adjustment shall be composed of five (5) members, citizens of the City of McAlester, each appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council for a term of three (3) years; provided, however, that for the first appointment under the provisions of this Ordinance, one (1) member shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year; two (2) members shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years; and two (2) members shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years. Two (2) alternate members shall be appointed for overlapping terms of two (2) years. All appointments thereafter shall be for a term of three (3) years. Not less than two (2) members shall be appointed from the membership of the Planning Commission. The Board shall elect a Chairman from its membership to serve for a term of two (2) years. |
