About the Office of the City Manager
The city manager serves as the chief executive officer responsible for day-to-day administration of city affairs and implementation of City Council policies. As the City Council's chief adviser, the city manager prepares a recommended budget for City Council's consideration and recruits, hires, and supervises city staff.

The department known as the Office of the City Manager is responsible for overseeing the public information efforts and intergovernmental relations, as well as internal services.

The Office of the City Manager is also home to the Economic Development Department, which promotes and supports businesses throughout the City, and encourages new businesses to look to McAlester as their future home
