Fire Hydrant Information
The fire hydrants in the city of McAlester are color coded for flow information. Therefore residents cannot paint hydrants, plant flowers or shrubs around them, or otherwise alter them in ways that may make them difficult to find or determine the flow in an emergency.
Do not park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant. This is to allow the fire truck and firefighters to easily access the hydrant in case of emergency.
Hydrants are flushed on a regular basis for cleaning and tested for pressure.
