POLICE RECRUIT

POSITION SUMMARY:

Police recruit is a non-exempt entry-level law enforcement officer in the Police Department, who is a probationary employee in the process of obtaining the necessary skills through training and on-the-job experience to become a Police Officer.

Applicants must be at least 21 and not more than 45 years of age. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. Must possess an excellent history of personal conduct, behavior and employment.

NEW MANDATORY CLEET ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS (HB1084)
EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2009

Effective November 1, 2009, any person who is employed as a peace officer in Oklahoma and who is scheduled to attend a CLEET basic law enforcement academy in Ada, Oklahoma must: 

  • Within ninety (90) days of hire and prior to CLEET admission, be required to score a minimum of 70% on a reading, writing and comprehension examination approved and administered by CLEET; and 
  • Prior to CLEET admission, provide proof of a score of a minimum of 70% on the CLEET approved physical assessment test; and
  • Upon employment and prior to CLEET admission, execute a promissory note payable to CLEET for reimbursement of training expenses if the Peace Officer leaves the law enforcement profession within four (4) years following graduation from
