Hearod is a McAlester native with more than 25 years with the McAlester Police Department. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Redlands Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. Hearod worked most recently as a Captain in patrol and the Criminal Investigation Division.
Deputy Chief Darrell Miller
Deputy Chief Darrell Miller began his law enforcement career with the Denison Texas Police Department in 1986.
Miller started as a patrol officer with the McAlester Police Department in 1988 and has worked every patrol shift, the Criminal Investigations Division and the Narcotics Divison.
Miller promoted through the ranks to Deputy Chief in 2006.
Deputy Chief Miller has more than 3,000 hours of advanced police training with the Oklahoma Council of Law Enforcement Education and Training.
Deputy Chief Miller has an advanced certification in law enforcement and is a 2009 graduate of the National FBI Academy.
