McAlester officers are responsible for the welfare of animals in our community, from picking up stray animals and reuniting lost pets with owners, to finding new homes for unwanted pets. Our employees are dedicated to the health and well being of our animals. The McAlester Police Department can be reached at (918) 423-1212.
Cats and dogs not reclaimed by their owners become available for adoption after three to five business days. If you are looking for a missing pet, or want to adopt a pet, please contact the Pittsburg County Animal Shelter at (918) 423-7803. The animals can be viewed at the shelter located at 1206 North West Street in McAlester.
